Ready For The 48 is our all-day prep day at Spark Studio Soundstage in Kearny Mesa - open auditions, a find/form a team mixer, and a Win The Weekend workshop

Open Auditions • 1-3pm

If you’re acting talent, bring headshots if you have them, your contact info, and a short monologue that shows what you can do. All skill levels welcome.

If you’re casting, come ready to take notes, ask questions, and meet actors who fit the kinds of films you want to make.

• $5+ recommended donation (choose $0 if you need). Pick Auditioning Actor or Not Auditioning (casting team member, actor support / guardian, or anyone curious about the 48).

Find / Form a Team Mixer • 3:30-5pm

Looking for a writer, DP, editor, producer, or just a crew to join? This is the room for matching up before the weekend. Included with your Auditions & Mixer registration.

Win The Weekend Workshop • 5-8pm

A practical session for team participants and team leaders on how the 48 works and how to give your team the best shot at a strong film (and awards) when the clock starts.

About the 48 Hour Film Project

The 48 Hour Film Project is the longest running and most popular timed filmmaking competition. Amateur and professional teams around the world make movies over a weekend, which are later given a premier in a real theater. San Diego’s 2026 competition weekend begins Friday, August 28th.
