Ready For The 48 - Auditions, Mixer & Workshop
Saturday, August 22, 2026 1pm - 8pmLoading...
Ready For The 48 is our all-day event at Spark Studio Soundstage in Kearny
Mesa to help you prepare for the competition on the following weekend.
Open auditions, a find/form a team mixer, and a Win The Weekend workshop
one week before competition kickoff.
If you’re acting talent, bring headshots if you have them, your contact info,
and a short monologue that shows what you can do. All skill levels welcome.
If you’re casting, come ready to take notes, ask questions, and meet actors who
fit the kinds of films you want to make at the mixer afterward.
$5 recommended donation (choose $0 if you need, $10 if you want to give the 48 some much needed extra support).
Pick Register as Auditioning Actor and you will be sent a form to be added to the auditions
Choose Register as Not Auditioning If you are a team leader, casting team member, actor support / guardian, or anyone curious about the 48.
Find / Form a Team Mixer • 3:30-5pm
Looking for an actor, writer, DP, editor, producer, or just a crew to join?
This is the room for matching up before the weekend. Included with your
Auditions & Mixer registration.
Win The Weekend Workshop • 5-8pm
Presented by Kilna Anthony and Chrissy Raven Kilna - the full 48 and
Beyond coaching session for team leaders and participants. Expect ~2-2.5 hours
of material, plus time for a team-forming activity and Q&A.
What you’ll cover
Structure & rules - how the competition works, the season from signup to
screening, required elements (genre, character, prop, and line), and the
rules that keep films eligible - including what you can and can’t do before
kickoff
Building team cohesion - core roles, team size and vibe, casting and
commitment, role clarity, and the culture of teams that actually finish
Workflow strategy - time management (the clock comes first; don’t steal
from post), what you can prep before kickoff, drills, and the weekend spine
from Friday kickoff through Sunday upload
Winning approaches - additional techniques and approaches that combine with the team building and workflow that result in awards
Beyond the 48 - how deadline pressure, scope control, communication, and
finishing translate into real-world production skills
Whether you’re leading a team or joining one, this is the practical playbook
for sticking the landing when the clock starts Friday, August 28 at 7pm.
Refunds: 20% cancellation charge; no cancellations within 48 hours of the event.
